I’ve finally ventured over to the Bourjois counter in Superdrug, and I’ve been using the Java Rice Powder!
I would never have picked this powder up if it weren’t for Meg from Meg’s Boutique including it in a makeup routine. I was intrigued by the gorgeous vintage packaging and even more intrigued when the powder inside was a soft shimmery pastel pink.
Yep, I said it – shimmer. Normally I’m opposed to shimmer: even my eyeshadow collection is 90% matte. However, I’m trying out some new trends for Spring/Summer (I’ll be writing a post on how I’m changing up my makeup, hair and skincare, so be on the lookout for that!) so I picked this miracle powder up.
I apply this powder after my regular translucent mattifying one from Makeup Gallery at Poundland, and concentrate it on my cheeks, across my nose and along my forehead.
It creates a really pretty, flawless finish – glowy and fresh-looking without looking like you’re a Cullen in the sunlight. The shimmer is actually almost invisible. Don’t worry, you won’t end up with glitter all over your face.
I’d say the “shimmer” in this powder is actually more of a “lustre” – same pretty almost-sparkly effect, but softer and more subtle.
Did I mention that it smells gorgeous? This powder has a sweet, sugary scent – almost like a really sweet, light baby powder. It’s yummy.
The powder is long-lasting, and the adorable packaging is easy to pop into your handbag for touch-ups (who is actually accomplished enough to confidently reapply makeup throughout the day?! I’ll never reach that state of magnificence).
I’ll definitely be upping my shimmer quotient this Spring.
