Review | MUA Paint Box in “Imperial Plums”

I’ve recently had a little sort through my lipstick collection, and chucked a LOT of them out. When I say chucked them out, I mean stuck them in a plastic bag and dropped them off outside my sister’s bedroom door. She appreciates it, I swear.

For some reason, I didn’t have nearly enough berry in my collection, so I immediately fixed that with a little trip to Superdrug to pick up this beauty:

MUA Paint Pot in Imperial Plum

This is the MUA Paint Box in “Imperial Plum”. I haven’t got anything from MUA for ages (possibly because my local Superdrug’s MUA stand looks like the setting for a children’s face-painting party) so I was pleasantly surprised with this dinky little palette.

For £4, you get five shades of matte and gloss lipsticks and two handy little lip brushes (which I am yet to use, because I’m a caveman and I use my fingers for everything). Slightly off topic, but the mirror in this palette is on point. Like, seriously on point. Dang.

MUA Paint Pot Imperial Plum Swatches

I swatched the colours straight away (then totally forgot I’d done that and freaked out about finger marks in my brand new palette… idiot) and was pleased to see that they’re very easy to build and blend, and aren’t too strong straight away. Yes, I’m a beauty blogger, but I’m not marvellous at applying a dark lip.

I think this palette is perfect if you’re like me: lazy. I can slap them on in the morning, do a little sassy pout at myself in the mirror, pop out to uni and forget all about lipstick in favour of silent films and social media.

Although they don’t last all day, they don’t fade from the inside-out (you know that awful thing where it looks like you’ve just drawn a big thick line round the outside of your lips and missed out the middle?).

For under a pound per shade (plus the best mirror ever), you really can’t go wrong with this palette. Nice one, MUA!
