My Everyday Makeup

I’ll be honest here. I wear makeup every single day. I think it’s fun – the experience of slapping stuff on your face and seeing how pretty you look at the end of it all.

I was particularly pleased with how my makeup came out today, so I put some loud music on and had a little selfie session (come on, admit it, you do it too) to show off my everyday makeup.

As you can see, it’s pretty simple. Also, I’m in love with my new hair colour.

I use Revlon ColorStay in Ivory. I’m a complete convert to this foundation; it’s a bit pricey (I found mine for £7, but I’ve seen it for about £13) but completely worth it. I just wish it came with a dispenser because it’s a bit annoying getting too much on your fingers and having to scrape it back into the bottle. It keeps my skin matte and clear all day (I’m having some serious skin trouble at the moment), and for once I’ve found a foundation that’s pale enough for my skin without making me look like a tangerine.

I always, always have to use powder, because my skin likes to make me miserable and goes super shiny if I’m not careful. At the moment I’m absolutely loving the Makeup Gallery powder, which is in the lightest shade. It even contains vitamin E, which I find makes my skin feel nice and soft and not too cakey or over-powdered.

My mascara is from Essence, which is (I think) a Korean brand that’s started to be stocked at Wilkinsons. I use a combination of the “Lash Base”, which is a white primer, and “Lash Mania Reloaded” (doesn’t that sound like a film with Bruce Willis?), which is the best mascara I’ve ever used, and only cost me £2.30. Amazing.

I love a good liquid eyeliner. Today I used an NYC one that I found in Superdrug for a couple of pounds, but I also can’t get enough of the Makeup Gallery one, which is from the Pound Shop range, and is incredible. I sometimes like to flick my liner out, but more often than not I completely fail at that and end up looking like a scene kid from 2006.

Today I didn’t do much with my lips: as much as I love a dark lipstick, I’m working today (in a professional theatre – eek), so I wanted to look a little bit more natural. I exfoliated my lips with LUSH’s popcorn lip scrub (and then ate about half the tub, because it’s delicious) and then used their Whip Stick lip balm, which tastes like chocolate orange and has just a touch of a browny-pink tint to it, which I find accentuates my natural lip colour nicely.

I popped a tiny bit of bronzer on as an afterthought, just to give my face a bit of definition. I have to use matte bronzer: I absolutely hate shimmery cheeks (unless it’s highlighter, and therefore deliberate). I use an angled brush and just dab a tiny bit of the pound shop’s “Chit Chat” bronzer onto the very sides of my cheekbones.

So, that’s my everyday makeup. I’m going to go and take more selfies now.
